Artist's description:

My wife said these ladies look angelic. It is a pretty faithful representation of a historic black and white photo, but at the time I started the painting, the musician Leon Redbone died and I thought half seriously about putting him with the group. I decided that I had captured the receptions area of Late Victorian Summer land. Here musicians great and obscure take turns serenading the new arrivals. There are refreshments on the porch and today Mr Proust has favored us with his madeleines. The Fox Sisters have set up in the main parlor and will help you send an e-mail to the folks back there . . .
Although I prepared with studies and underdrawing, I cut loose with with bright, unmixed color, impasto and juicy brushwork. I am also pleased with the gallery edges that work in perspective on the side.
