This artwork was inspired by a trip to Barbados, two juicy mangos and a pristine beach. Nothing beats the freedom of sticky, sweet mango juice running down your chin and dripping over your bikini before you run into the waves and emerge clean and salt-crusted in the sun.
I first painted the ocean background and dribbled thick mango-coloured paint onto the canvas. It took a week to dry, after which I sketched over the figures and cloaked the scene in ultramarine, reminiscent of the vibrant colours of summer.
The painting continues over all sides. No framing required. Wired and ready to hang. All you need is a hook and a wall!
