This is from a series of 6 paintings called Earthly Delights, taking inspiration from lava, and the formation of land.
I was inspired by a documentary about volcanic land formation, the way the lava flows and cools as it hits the water. These paintings are a celebration of this process of creation. Painted in oil, wet into a glazed surface of rich orange they are very lively and delicate.
