Artist's description:

Mixed-media on .5" deep wood panel. The sides are painted black for a finished look. It comes ready to hang or can be framed.

When I was a little girl, I spent several weeks on my cousins farm in Indiana. It’s one of my best childhood memories. Horses, chickens, a million cats, dogs and a bunch of other farm animals. They had this feisty rooster that was up at the crack of dawn every morning doing that thing that roosters do. I would moan and groan until he stopped and then fall back asleep.

Even though I don’t share the early morning with the rooster, I still love them. I love the colored feathers, the way they walk, the crazy red thing on the top of their heads. I think they’re beautiful. They also remind me of that wonderful time on my cousins farm where life was simple and fun.

Materials used:

Fabric, oil, cold wax on wood panel
