Situated on the Northumberland coast between the villages of Craster and Embleton, Dunstanburgh Castle stands on a rocky outcrop next to the sea. Constantly at odds with the elements this site can be subject to all kinds of weather within a short space of time. When I visited the castle I experienced sun, rain, strong winds, hail stones and a perfectly placed bolt of lightning!
This ORIGINAL watercolour has a loose, painterly feel capturing the atmosphere of a truly unique place.
The image comes complete with a pewter frame which has a slightly distressed surface similar to that of beaten metal. The pewter finish responds beautifully to the light, turning silver in cool, natural daylight and picking up warmer tones from artificial light within the home.
