Spray paint on used British train tickets, hand finished with acrylic ink.

One of Johnman's renowned train ticket artworks depicts a young couple kissing on a railway track. The piece is entitled "Teenage Kicks" and symbolises the excitement at the start of a new romances in life's journey.

144 individual train tickets have been glued together to form the canvas. The tickets have then been spray painted with transparent paint applied via the use of intricately, hand-cut stencils. The highlights have then been applied in a loose, free-flowing style with acrylic ink.

"One thing I love about using transparent paints is the dual element that it gives the finished pieces. One can stand back and admire the artwork or get up-close and personal and see the details printed on the canvas media beneath. Preserving and adding fresh interest to these iconic and historic pieces of British design and culture.
