This started experimentally and became .... rather obsessive. I began drawing edgewise with a knife, the usual loose mesh of randomly slicing verticals and diagonals, which shaded in here and there eventually suggests an image....then there were the exciting possibilities of newly acquired "pearlescent medium" and a file of glitter and I saw shards of stained glass, lead lights, sky lit puddles, shimmering and the nacreous sheen of dragon fly wings..... opal inlaid ebony....stripy Tradescantia leaves, memories of Edmund Dulac's fairytale illustrations and Van Gogh's madly spinning star- suns, shadow magic before sunset......a lurking Something about to awaken.... China again. The other ingredient of course, responsible for the bas-relief, left over filler from repairing a hole in the wall. All good fun.
