DISCUSSING DAMIEN HIRST'S SPOT PAINTINGS

I've worked on a wonderful crumpled un-stretched linen.
In order to preserve the longevity of the colour, the reverse of the linen is roughly painted in white gesso as shown.

I love to work in this way and let the nature of the material lead me along the creative path. Colour plays an enormous part in all of my work, I don’t have any pre-planed idea I love the random process of creation.

You may consider having this stretched at your local gallery. I have allowed a plain edge for stretching around the bars, which could be trimmed away if the painting is to remain un-stretched as a contemporary wall hanging.

This is a large original oil painting, the entire canvas measures 185 cm X 137 cm. Please note, as with all un-stretched work, once stretched on a 3 cm (for example) profile frame the overall size will be reduced slightly.
