Dina: Portrait of Sadness
Acrylic on Linen Canvas
© Lee Clement – 2016
Size: 21 x 29.7 cm (8.2" x 11.6")
This abstract expressionist portrait is one of my ongoing series of original paintings in vibrant Fauvists’ colors.
My work was influenced by sex trafficking theme, which not only involves women but unfortunately children and young men, and recently a lot of refugees in the Middle-East and all around the world. Human exploitation is a modern-day form of slavery.
Dina could have been a happy beautiful woman, but the array of sadness that passes through the contrasting vivid colors of this painting shows that underneath the lights, lies an obscure reality, a call for help through her sad, bruised eyes.
