''Ethics and equity and the principles of justice do not change with the calendar.'' - D.H. Lawrence.
An acrylic portrait of a influential figure of literary modernism, D. H. Lawrence. I've created this painting over the title page of his most notorious book - Lady Chatterley's Lover, which saw a ground-breaking trial brought against Penguin Books in 1960, under the new Obscene Publications Act. The jury returned a 'not-guilty' verdict which brought about a more liberal stance for future publications.
