Derry City is the only intact completely walled city in Ireland and one of the finest examples of Walled Cities in Europe. The walls are incredibly thick and are just a mile in length, that’s 1.5 km. The stones are a greyish/bluish green and in excellent condition. I love the way how the houses of the city nestle up close to the walls. This section is next to Hangman’s bastion, near Butcher’s Gate.
