Original, hand-painted, production art from the classic film, The Swan Princess (1994). Princess Derek and Princess Odette, as they kiss, in the final sequence of the final sequence of the animated film. These cels were created using a historical, and now obsolete, animation process, cel animation. This process includes painting on transparent sheets of cellulose paper then overlaying the on painted backgrounds. Individual photographs of each cel and background were taken to make up strips of film. The Swan Princess was the last fully animated film to be released in theaters that was hand painted.
The mostly highly desired scenes and characters are now in limited supply in Swan Princess Partners' archive. This sequence, 25-33, captures Prince Derek and Princess Odette, as they kiss, in the final sequence of the animated film, wearing their wedding clothes. There are approximately 15 pieces to this sequence in varying stages of the kiss.
