I never have much luck growing delphiniums, but I walk past a garden regularly that obviously has the knack. The spires of blue are gorgeous, though rather prone to falling over in the wind. So I had a lot of fun painting this wet in wet. Sometimes it is good to try different subjects or formats. I wanted to capture the freshness and delicacy of the florets.
This is painted with artist quality colours on a 250lb Bockingford paper. It will come packed between sheets of board to make sure it is protected and you can get it framed to your own taste, either something neutral or pulling out the blues, greens and purples. Up to you! I have put two different shots, as I have struggled with the lighting on this - today is so grey here!
