Artist's description:

keratin, is the stuff of claw and fur. The lion has it in abundance pushed out to its extremities with every heartbeat, We too grow fingernails and hair as the centre of our being communicating with the external realities of the moment. The rhino has keratin attached to the front of its face and for reasons best known to the simpleminded, golems send their minions out into the wilderness ( the desert Bedouins of Arabia hold the words wilderness and wisdom to be the same) and once there these hunters hack the horn out of the rhino's face and deliver it to the slobbering golem. The rhino is left in a state of shock and rarely survives, but here's the thing, like our fingernails the horn is always growing but only if it remains attached to the rhino's face. Our species needs to develop a new relationship with the rhino and all its ilk living out there in the wisdom..
