This a painting of one of my favourite beaches on the remote island of Sanday, Orkney close to where I live and work. Clearly it's a painting of breaking sea and in the background appears the farm of Lopness and the Start lighthouse...Britains only vertically striped lighthouse which was built by the Stevenson family.
