Artist's description:

A piece about one embracing the "negative" aspects of one's self. In a culture that teaches to never complain, to "remain positive" and passive, seldom do individuals accept the reality that to be human is to swim in both realms. Sadness, anger and even aggression are responses to events that affect one's psyche and to deny those impulses, to repress them is to put one's self second to others. It is the cause of anguish, and even mental illness. The key is to live authentically, acknowledging all aspects of one's self.

This piece is an attempt to capture a still of water flowing over an edge and down into itself.
The technique I've developed lends itself to capturing the bubbles created by rapidly aerated liquids. By flushing the acrylic with air and paint, the finished version succeeds in capturing both the texture and fluidity of agitation.

Arrives framed with a white mat in a black wooden frame.

Materials used:

Acrylic paint, water, air compressor, sponges, brushes
