I just love black and white photography. When Kay and I saw this beautiful specimen/husk of an ex-tree with the bright blue winter sky, there was no doubt, monochrome!
This demised specimen stands proud to the left of Greno Woods, Grenoside in Sheffield. It is out on open moorland and has felt and suffered the effects of countless British winters.
It is smooth and gnarled, bitten by frost and the occasional stick chasing dog. Stripped now of its natural bark overcoat and probably has had its fair share of lightning strikes over the years.
And now this lovely natural weather shapen object is being written about and sent around the world via the world wide web; posthumously famous!
When working in black and white, I just adore a good blue sky with just a hint of cloud. The blue sky can be made very dark with the converse being true for the clouds, it really brings mood into the work.
I have really loved working on this photograph, I hope you like it too and as usual there will only be 10 prints made with the usual coded and signed certificate of Authenticity.
