~ pencil and dry pastel on 70 lb paper
~ drawn live on Mill Ave, Tempe AZ
~ signed on the front
~ 12 x 16 inches
~ sprayed with a protective fixative to illuminate smudges

This is a pastel and graphite drawing of a lovely lady framed in red. Her wisdom and peaceful spirit shines through. Her continual and knowing smile is a reminder that each day is a brand new one, regardless of yesterday's troubles. She is Dana Perino, former white house press secretary under George W. Bush.

It was drawn live on Mill Ave in front of crowds on a busy Saturday night in Tempe, AZ. I set up my easel on the sidewalk in front of the Valley Art Theatre (a favorite hangout from my own youth). People were excited to blow off the steam of the work week and have some fun. They were very lively as they walked the street going from bar to bar. It was fun drawing this and hearing their reactions as they stopped and watched in passing.
