Artist's description:

These are Osteospernum flowers better kwown as Daisies. I loved the contrast and vibrancy of the colours in the flowers and background foliage but mostly I wanted to paint them as they are my mum's favourite flowers.

I used acrylic ink so I could take advantage of the transparent qualities. I let the ink flood the canvas and build up layers of washes. I dripped, splattered and poured the ink on. This is a colourful, vibrant, loose and energetic painting.

The canvas is 60cm x 60cm and has been framed in a 1" wide, 4cm deep painted white frame. Sitting within the frame, the canvas front is flush with the front of the frame. There is a 2mm gap between canvas and frame. There is no need for glass. The back of the frame is mdf board and is strung ready to hang.

Materials used:

canvas and acrylic ink
