Last spring we bought a " Variety " pack of Dahlia seeds and planted them out in the borders to see what we would get. These flowers were easily the most impressive, standing nearly
4 feet tall with flowers the size of saucers. The stems were long, giving the impression that the blooms were floating in the air. These two blooms were against the dark orange fence
catching the last of the summer evenings sun and that is what I hope I have captured in this painting. We only got one of this type of Dahlia among those we sowed and I cannot identify
the particular variety. So I dug up the Tuber and hopefully come spring, I will be able to plant it out again and take some cuttings and some more paintings.
