Two things I love in life - stationery, and retro packaging. This new painting / illustration combines these two obsessions. It depicts a 70s or 80s style retro packet of eight Crayola crayons.
The striking yellow and green design and vintage font of the packaging and the crayons themselves, perfectly lined up, instantly transports me back to school art lessons. It would make a great piece for your own creative art room or for a creative kid's bedroom.
The approach is my usual bold 'pop' art style, with black outlines separating the objects and a focus on graphic impact rather than realism. It is painted in acrylics and Posca paint pens on thick high quality A4 paper.
PLEASE NOTE: the painting doesn't come framed, but I've taken photos of it in an A4 frame for display purposes.

I've been inspired to create work like this by classic pop artists like Andy Warhol and Patrick Caulfield but also by modern graphic designers.
