Original artwork description:

Humpback Whale mother and calf have been painted in a surreal underwater scene with the mothers tail turning into a branch beginning to bloom as she kicks to swim with another branch of a tree cradling her.

The symbolism behind the work is all about us as human beings needing to take care of our planet for these fabulous creatures of the sea to continue to flourish.
I want grandchildren of mine and their children to be able to see these creatures in the wild and not just on some CGI film.

I had the opportunity to see these amazing animals in Queensland, off Fraser Island last year swim, breach and protect their calfs.
It inspired this work.

Materials used:

acrylic paints, gel medium, varnish
