This image was captured on 18 august 2011, the day the worst storm in decades hit Belgium. I wanted to make animal portraits, and found a willing farmer that allowed me access to his cows. Our gear was just set up when the storm broke and we had to find shelter in the stables. Most cows in the stable shied away from the flashes, except this one, who was separated from the rest, gave me a moment of her time. Out of the many hours spent shooting, this was the single image that stood out. The distinct dark postprocessing commemorates the many victims of the storm.
