Artist's description:

Cotton Gin Gears was one of my first paintings for my series "Relics of the Industrial Age". Dirty, oil encrusted gears with years of cracked green growth on them. Unused for years they had a patina and composition I couldn't pass up.

I was in Arkansas when I came across this historic cotton gin (cotton gins were mechanical tools that removed the cotton seed from the harvested cotton. Labor intensive places, they were found in every little town throughout the southern united states.

Materials used:

Acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas
