Artist's description:

Syncope Compositions
The term syncope refers to a kind of rhythm present in music, particularly in free jazz, a genre that highlights improvisation over structure.
Through this series Jaime Rozen explores the similarity in the process which resides in both experiences: visual and musical, concretely abstract painting and free jazz: freedom over structure; when form and composition in painting correspond to the irregularity and destructuration in music
Parting from such technical conditions the process is questioned by creating a new alteration: a “free structure”. A vision which exhorts to not only a modality in art, but extends itself and proposes a philosophical vison of a way of life.
Through observation the spectator creates its own individual prism of hierarchies of color form and space, prevailing some elements over others and assimilating the experience in a way with distinctive fluidity. After being situated in such a diversified frame, the observer becomes a free composer.
