Continuing with the urban feel in this series of three framed pieces is "compendium". This piece was not as natural as the others for it does not look like the others. The inspiration behind this piece came from a technique used in the heritage painting. I had done the flowers in a new style focusing on a new technique. I loved the flowers so much that I had decided to do a whole piece in this style. It was not easy. Especially since the whole piece is done mainly in acrylic. The last 20 or so paintings have been mainly oil, for I have come to love the texture and feel of the paint. But in order to achieve this thick and bold look, I had to return to my roots. This piece is also made on repurposed canvas and has its own unique characteristic. The background is made with iredecent blue and copper paint, along with other colorful splashes. This piece, as with the rest of this summers series contains gold, but it also has hints of silver and an antique gold that cannot be captured with a camera as the naked eye can see. With the use of iredecent paints, a new and interesting variant of the piece emerges every time a different angle of light is subjected onto iT.
There is a short speed art video on the creation of this piece in the "me at work" section.
