Artist's description:

I wanted to produce a bold splash of colour to brighten up my day. Claret Jug is a water pitcher and glass which I have painted in an abstract way to give more interest by using the Ink Resist technique and adding additional colours and varied brush strokes. Sometimes abstracts can be found in the most mundane or every day objects or scenes. It is a delight to bring them to life and give them centre stage.

Shadow mounted with a double off white border with Artglass Conservation Grade non-reflective glass.

Ink Resist (an old technique which I have tailored to suit my style). My paintings undergo several processes to reach the end result which is unpredictable and quite delightful to create.

Ink resist paintings have a unique surface texture. They can be fairly smooth and matte (depending upon how much paint was applied in the first instance) and can appear a little shabby or unrefined. For me this is very appealing and very much the hallmark of this type of painting.

I have been producing Ink Resist paintings for about a year now, although I have been playing with the process on and off for about ten years. It is quite unique. I will be adding more paintings shortly
