Artist's description:

This is another ruined romanesque church I painted when we were travelling around France in a camper van looking for a house.
This is Sainte-Maure-de-Peyriac near St Pe in the Lot et Garonne.
I was captivated by the very dramatic shadow the sun cast on the clocher-mure or steeple with its two openings for bells.
I used a thick modelling paste for the field of ripening wheat in the foreground.
Although I've listed the style as 'impressionistic', it probably leans towards post impressionism or even Fauve.

Materials used:

acrylic and modelling paste on board
