On March 15, 2015 I agreed to participate in a 100 Art Works Challenge. Whenever I do one of these challenges, I always try to do something that's out of my "normal" realm. For this challenge, it was working with neutral colors. I began by using simple objects - cups, bowls, jars, pitchers - and someone pointed out my work reminded them of Giorgio Morandi's. I wasn't familiar with his work but did a Google search and felt like I'd met my Soul Mate!!
I'm excited to see how far I can go with these neutral colors and the still life concept. Being a colorist working mainly in abstract style for over a decade, I somehow want to marry the two styles.....we'll see if this ends up happening along the way.
In the meantime I'm offering these neutral, "vessel" still life paintings for purchase - they look great grouped together and go well in a kitchen or dining room. Most are 6" x 6" works on paper, and are matted in 14" x 11" white mats with 5.75" openings and weighted bottoms for easy framing. Some are signed on the front - all are signed on the back and the titles/additional signatures are on the mats themselves.
