Another of my wet streets in New York paintings, this one is the Cheyenne Diner on Ninth Avenue...or at least it was as I believe the site has now been sold for redevelopment and the fate of the classic diner remains uncertain. Why do cities look so good in the rain? Maybe we are attracted to reflections and cities are full of reflected lights and neon? The painting is based on a yellow/violet complementary colour scheme.
oil on mdf board, gessoed on both sides.
