The inspiration for this painting comes from the components of atomic nuclei as investigated by the LHC (Large Hadron Collider the world's largest and most powerful particle collider, built by the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) from 1998 to 2008). After accelerating particles up to near the speed of light they are made to collide in an explosion revealing different elemental particles of the atom. A major group of particles in atomic nuclei are called quarks. There are six types of quarks, known as flavors: up, down, strange, charm, bottom, and top. I have used the idea of these collisions to express what the result might feel like. Colours are chosen and manipulated to give a harmonious and pleasing image and represent the quark. The painting is intended to be exciting close up as well as at a distance with new movements to be seen at every viewing. The title of the painting is the name of a quark as felt appropriate.
