Painted from a study sketch and photos, made during a performance of musicians in the basement of Covent Garden Market, London. The view is from the first floor, hence the downward view and distorted perspective. The atmosphere is electric with crowds of people leaning over the barrier and tables are full at the adjoining cafeteria. Sketches help me remember colour, atmosphere. Photos a reminder of what I did not notice at the time.
