Artist's description:

Part I of a pair of illustrations of Kingfishers.

Once a common sight on England's riverbanks, the Kingfisher is now among 37 species of UK birds in danger of dying out, and are listed as Vulnerable. Climate change, habitat loss and changing land management can all be blamed for the decline in many species.

This illustration uses a mix of coloured pencil, pen and a tiny amount of metallic ink. When the light catches the metallic ink, it mimics the iridescent blue sheen of the feathers.

Mounted and framed. The frame is a lovely burnished copper colour.
