This 2D window-hung sculpture is a slab of rough-cast glass within which there is a drawing of a woman in bronze-laden ink. Her body form is revealed with a drawn wire-like bronze image, cast and stained within the glass. The sculpture is hung vertically in a customised wooden frame (it's based on the frame used to stretch canvasses for painted artworks), all designed to be hung in a window or other source of light.
I love the powerful impact these works make in a room. The drawing in translucent glass, floating in its frame, together form a unique, fascinating and eye-drawing artwork.
It's easy to hang: glass and frame are suspended on a bronze wire support - all you need is a cord to hang it from. The floating glass figure and its frame together are one piece: together they are the artwork.
This sculpture is signed in bronze within the glass itself.
