Sometimes they just happen! This painting has a very unusual green color that plays so well with the golden ochre. It has much atmosphere! It is so soft and inviting. This painting is actually inspired by a recent trip to Australia. That's how I named it Carrickalinga Pier. Carrickalinga is a heavenly little town on the southern ocean, south of Adelaide. It is hot and dry and sunny and breezy, with a beautiful color to the sea and a slight mist to the air.

One of the perks of my job is that I get to bring paintings like this home and put them over my mantle! I rotate them frequently. I only have a few spots available on my walls because we have other artists' paintings and live in a small Manhattan apartment. I love Australian aboriginal artists for example.
