This vibrant gouache painting shows off plenty of new yellow blooms and spring foliage seen while hiking in Sabino Canyon near Tucson, Arizona, in late March. Depending upon the winter and spring rains, the canyon floor can jump to life with color. The canyon hills can be seen in the background. Lizards and ground squirrels scurry about and we keep a watchful eye for unusual wildflowers, birds and cactus too close to the path for comfort. This yearly hike never disappoints, and I have hundreds of photo memories to use when composing a painting. Painting is matted in a warm neutral color in a softly mottled black and gold frame.
