When the slugs leave them alone, these flowers look great. My son arrived with a birthday gift of these. I love the logic - oh heck, it's Ma's birthday, buy a plant pronto! And there he was, striding down the road, laces undone, hair all over the place, with a huge pot clutched to his chest.
After digging a big hole, layering with compost and a good glug of water, I settled down to paint.
The result is this small painting, supplied unmounted and unframed. Painted on smooth watercolour painting in subtle tones of pale cadmium yellow, numerous greens and the odd splash of violet.

Artist quality paint and reassuringly expensive smooth heavy watercolour paper.
