There is a boat race that starts in Newport Beach California and runs down to Ensenada Mexico that is held every spring. This is a painting strictly from imagination after I heard this scene described in quite some detail. It is a highly textured canvas with a great deal of unexpected swirls and bumps. The cool colors are mostly mauve, grey blue and teal. The warm colors are ochre, various reds and yellow. It seems to work best in a plain black plein aire style frame.
