Artist's description:

Late afternoon in October finds me standing in the deserted tideline of Holywell Bay on the Atlantic Coast of Cornwall. A majestic location boasting a wide golden beach skirted by grassy dunes and rocky headlands. As you approach from any direction you see Gull Rocks standing like sentries. I love the literal names the Cornish give to their land marks and from their silhouette it's not hard to see why they are so called.

As the light lowered, so the high cloud soaring in off the ocean started to break up and standing over my camera and tripod, my adrenaline started to flow. For I knew the cloud base would soon start to pick up colour as the sun dropped below the horizon. However, I had no idea of just what a spectacular display I would be so privileged to witness.

For soon the sky started to blaze with intense, fiery colours. The golds and oranges refracted and reflected in the waves sweeping in over the untouched sand. Nature orchestrated the composition, all I did was ensure I was at the right place to catch the sweeping arc of a wave to balance the foreground.

The scene was simply breathtaking. My eyes filled and my heart soared...

As with all my pictures, this image was captured 'in camera', with only minimal refinement in post processing. The colours are true to life, not enhanced.

I print the limited edition run of just 50 on Hahnemuehle Photo Rag Baryta, one of the finest fine art papers money can buy, using Canon Pixma inks that give bright, faithful colours that will last a lifetime.

Framed in black wood surround with an 'ivory' coloured mount (10cm deep on all sides), the artwork is finished with acrylic gallery 'glass' providing protection from dust and UV light.
