The garden is a-buzz with busy little bees at the moment and they are irresistible subjects to paint.
This painting brings together two distinct styles that I enjoy painting in; the bee is painted in detail, while the background is deliberately kept as abstract shapes. It is painted using bright, bold colours, which speak to me of bright sunny days.
It is painted on a cotton canvas and framed in a floating frame. The frame is a 35mm deep sided, burnished gilt finished wooden frame with a distressed finish (see photos). It has two D-rings and is wired and ready to hang.
The painting has been protected with a satin varnish, which gives it a soft sheen.
Materials used:
Artists' quality acrylic paints, cotton canvas, floating frame, D-rings and picture wire.
