Continuing the 'Beyond the Wall' series, These new 'Means of production' works combine Acrylic paint, Oil pastels, and/or acid free tape.
NOTE: This artwork measures 24 x 33 cm framed.
All art is illusion and illusion isn't what it seems. Although the works in this series are of modest scale , they, curiously, suggest, imply, an almost monumental scale. (What strange witchcraft is afoot?) The series as a whole began as a loose reference to Vonnegut's ideas of hidden messages in the caves of Mercury, and form a cerebral inquiry into the purpose of image making. Exploring image and symbol which over time will contribute to the illusion of decipherable language: of external significance.
The works are conceived to be shown individually, in isolation, or in random groupings to imply 'message'. Each piece exists within an abstract framework which, whilst having no visually explicit external reference, still suggests a greater purpose.
The reference here shifts through Vonnegut to Jorge Luis Borges and the Library of Babel.
This work is framed, as are we all!
oil pastels, acid free tape, acid free paper.
