The series as a whole began as a loose reference to Vonnegut's ideas of hidden messages in the caves of Mercury, and forms a cerebral enquiry into the purpose of image making. Exploring image and symbol which over time will contribute to the illusion of decipherable language: of external significance.
The works are conceived to be shown individually, in isolation, or in random groupings to imply 'message'. Each piece exists within an abstract framework which, whilst having no visually explicit external reference, still suggests a greater purpose.
The reference here shifts through Vonnegut to Jorge Luis Borges and the Library of Babel.
