Artist's description:

Completed in 2012 this print shows some early signs of my fascination with colour. The bold palette chosen for this image evokes the colours used in early rail travel posters, whilst also capturing the sense of place that Brimham Rocks portrays.

I think it’s interesting to look at this print and see the how my mark-making had developed between 2012 to 2015. In only three years I have gone from making the marks that comprise each of the coloured layers here with a paintbrush and acrylic, to a much more detailed – but no less evocative – set of marks using digital tools like a Wacom tablet and Photoshop.

This print comprises 5 layers of colours. I remember being very happy with the effect the overprint created, with the purple of the rock being the same magenta ink as used for the pink in the background. I also remember this being the first print I created that really portrayed exactly what I wanted it to. I truly felt I had begun to understand and control the process of screen printing.
