Artist's description:

Earlier this summer, whilst at the local park, I spotted some moorhen chicks amidst the reeds. I've been going back almost daily to watch them grow up. As babies, they were just little tufts of feathers stuck onto a pair of huge legs. But, as you can see in my ink and graphite drawing, they are growing into elegant creatures.

I think in this drawing, I was influenced by the Inuit art I grew up with -- my mom collected it in when we lived in Winnipeg, and we often visited the Winnipeg Art Gallery, which has a wonderful Inuit art collection.
