▶︎Behind the Scenes Creative Journey

This mixed media artwork is part of an ongoing series I'm currently working on. The motif of this series is really about sustainability and preserving the landscapes that we love and cherish. For me personally, I have so much fond memories at Bondi Beach, in Sydney, Australia. I would always remember the perfect crescent shaped shoreline and the turquoise waters, and the exhilarating scenic walk along the cliffs, and the gorgeous rockpools where little kids would go on tiny crab hunts!

One aspect I enjoyed the most while making this unique piece of art is the intricate process of layer building. In order to capture the essence and depth of those iconic deep turquoise water, I create multiple layers of tinted resin one layer at a time. Each layer takes about 24 hours to cure. I also sand the layers in between so the resin adheres properly. Under different lights and angles, your eyes will perceive the subtle variations in those turquoise layers and blue-green hues.

If you have been following me on Facebook or Instagram, you would've noticed that I have started creating with a new brand of resin, ArtResin. It's a professional grade resin brand for artist, and this piece of artwork is made with ArtResin. According to ArtResin, it has additional stabilisation additives that prevent long-term yellowing and other degradative effects caused from UV light, which can be a common problem for Epoxy resins artworks. I have video clips on Instagram showing you my paintings under sunlight, so you can get a glimpse of what it looks like in real life. It can be challenging to take an accurate photo of a resin artwork, due to its reflective nature, the depth of colours, and the layers that went into it.

If you are interested in exploring more details on my creative process and journey of making each unique piece of artwork, feel free to follow me on Instagram @vanesslifineart, I post progress pictures often and also time-lapse videos of me making art. And send me a direct message or a comment if you have any questions about a current artwork, or if you want to request a commission. Or just to say hi! Thank you for visiting my Artfinder shop. Enjoy the art!
