I painted this from an old photograph taken on Loch Lomond in Scotland in the 1960's. The three children in the boat are my two of my mother's younger sisters and her little brother. For me, these old photos of a distant childhood embody a happiness and playfulness absent from today's over-protective, electronic world. The darkness in this painting signifies a nostalgia tainted with the trials of growing up.
