Photography and Painting have always been the tools of preference for my creative process with one informing the other. In parallel with the photographic landscape interventions and the Found String project, developed a series paintings in which the main criteria was ‘painting that which I could not photograph’, ie, the essence, emotional response of a place. The paintings had to have a certain physicality, both in the scale and the application of the paint and felt tactile and of the place. For this purpose I used cutting discs found in situ at Hemerdon Mine to apply the paint along with pallet knives and found objects.
