I love the random quality that the art of ''spinning'' a painting allows me. No matter how hard I try, it is impossible to exactly replicate these amazing creations. It is possibly one of the most relaxing and mesmerising experiences, AND so much fun.
Some are energetic and full of movement, whilst others ooze a gentle calm and serenity.
The larger energetic pieces take an incredible amount of 'spin power' to create the fantastic starlike shapes. This can only be achieved through the use of a high powered spinning machine, and the skill of knowing where and how to place the paint. Unlike the original Spin Master Alfons Shillings, I deliberately control the placement of the paint, and then let the machine do the random bit; waiting with abated breath for the result.
My aim in this series of Black and White paintings is to control the nature of the spin and achieve symmetry.
