Artist's description:

The Black Mountains lie to the notheast of the Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales. They are a group of old red sandstone hills cloaked in grass and heather and laced with rivers.

Cilcenni Dingle is one of a series of 'dingle' woodlands, these being narrow, deeply incised wooded valleys. It is owned by the Woodland Trust and most of the site comprises Ancient Semi Natural Woodland. Uncommon species such as herb Paris can be spotted among ground flora, and predominant tree species include wych elm, ash, sycamore and oak.

I make my prints using a professional inkjet printer and have developed a technique using a cotton-based watercolour paper that emphasises the subtle colours and textures of the grasses, bark and other natural elements in the scene.
