Artist's description:

This wonderfully bold painting is of a retired RAF fighter pilot from the Second World War whose photograph was in a magazine. The off-centre asymmetrical angle is edgy, and along with the bold close-up it leaves the spectator feeling like we are in the old man's space... but he is calm and serene with his heavy lidded eyes focussed on something we can't see.
Deep greens, blacks and whites have been applied in big thick and brave brush strokes.
I really do wish I knew who this gentleman is. Any ideas?
